seven random things - julie

before i left for halfway across the world, i read jaime's meme posting on seven random things and vowed to do it. i have been wondering which seven random things to write, but have landed upon these:

1. i have the absolutely worst queue karma in the world. no matter what. if you should ever come up behind me to wait in line, run like the wind, even if the other lines are twice the length, go get in them. you will not regret it.
2. i steal airline spoons. but only if i don't already have them or they have a new design.
3. i have lived for seven years without a bathtub. (don't worry, we do have a shower.) (and thankfully, it's not for much longer, as we're redoing the bathroom.)
4. when i sing patsy cline's crazy, patsy possesses me.
5. i love iPods and have 6 of them (each with their own purpose).
6. although i try to pretend i'm not, i'm still gleefully pleased when i fly business class.
7. i love being gold on an airline, but i'm a little disappointed if it's too easy. for example, it took only two flights to go gold on KLM. granted, it was two flights to manila, but still. last year i requalified for gold status on SAS in under a month.

great about today

1. the sun has been shining for like a week straight.
2. a lovely, very old, very tiny lady i saw biking to the grocery store on a brand new very cool, very trendy shiny black bike.
3. 150 K-2 graders dressing up as elves, trolls, knights and sorcerers and doing a role play all week down at the viking village. sabin is both elf and healer of the elves--which she does through special chants on the sideline of the battlefield.
4. did i mention that the sun is shining?
5. singing at the top of my lungs in the car.
6. my pretty little wave notebook, where i now record all blog inspiration
7. fresh coconut (i know this goes against my new local food thing, but i bought them before i decided to get serious about it and it would be a waste not to use them now).
8. this juice for lunch: 3 small beets, 2 large carrots, 1 hunk ginger, half a fresh coconut, 2 kumquats, ½ a lemon, 2 apples.
9. great lines from songs..."stars are just old light," and "what else can you do with seven itty bitty men..."
10. sunshine, glorious sunshine!

observations on the train.

on my way back home from the city today on the S train at 5 p.m., i noted the following:

1. mysterious, but ever-present puddle of pee in the elevator at nørreport station.
2. unidentifiable unpleasant smells coming from an unknown place.
3. young man/boy with last night's EYELINER and GLITTER on, making his way home after a rough saturday night that clearly lasted well into sunday.
4. young woman with nylons and short shorts on, carrying a pair of white pumps in her hand. clearly also making her way home from a saturday night out on the town. makeup mostly, but not completely gone.
5. 3 solitary elderly people, all very particular about choosing a seat. all 3 look a bit on the lonely side, yet wouldn't dream of speaking to one another.
6. tired looking man with a suitcase. clearly a politiken reader.
7. 12-year old girl with a hopelessly uncool mother.

i wonder what these people's stories really are...

strangely uninspired

i think it might be the time change, but i'm draggin' today. i also ate a bad shawarma yesterday and my stomach still isn't right. that should teach me not to eat toxic things like that on the weekend.

to do today (updated at 12:46 p.m.):

1. post office - pick up a package from "international" (they're so informative, those Post Danmark people) and mail letter to MQ (DONE)
2. groceries - netto (i will be smarter in my grocery shopping this month) (DONE)
3. pick up sabin (about to be DONE)
4. go to jens hage's house to get a drawing for my team event next week
5. create a couple of invoices
6. draw something
7. art journal page
8. make something
9. work on story campaign plan (DONE, but not finished)
10. write email to richard (DONE)

to do this week:

1. meet with the girls from the old training team
2. pack
3. go to barcelona for long weekend

7 good things about 2007

it seemed too boring without any pictures of anything on this blog, so i hereby share the page i made yesterday entitled 7 good things about 2007. it was rather limiting to only put 7, but that's all there was room for on my 18mmx20mm page that goes into my fabulous plum-colored bookbinders design binder. what are YOUR top 7 good things about 2007?

vinterferie

we have lots to do this week, even tho' it's supposedly a holiday. the winter holiday--vinterferie. for a holiday, there's certainly a lot to do:

1. voice recordings (m)
2. talk to that riding place (that lady never called back. :-( ) (j)
3. visit an art museum (i vote for arken, which just reopened after building on) (j, m, s)
4. visit a castle (j, m, s)
5. finish buying husband's b-day prezzies. (j)
6. wrap them. (j & s)
7. celebrate husband's birthday (tuesday) (he wants to go out to dinner--also to celebrate outsourcing the retards) (all)
8. anxiously await next delivery of pretty papers and chipboard alphabets (j)
9. møns klint if there's a sunny day (j, m, s)
10. west coast of jutland (j, m, s)
11. quick ski trip to sweden? (j, m, s)
12. go try to retrieve lost green jacket/wallet out at svanholm (j on monday)
13. get some more of that basicgrey recess pretty paper that's 50% off in roskilde (j)
14. clear out kitchen so it can be torn out (j)
15. inspection of new furnace by gas company people (tuesday)
16. go on expedition for 6 identical laundry baskets (j)
17. take all that damn cement out of the trunk (to make room for driftwood for potential trip to west coast of jutland) (husband)

1. stop obsessively looking at scrapbooking designs online and MAKE SOME!!!

happy monday!

reasons why this is a great monday!

1. i filed the paperwork to start my own business today! it feels so exciting. so liberating. so liminal! on the threshhold of something new and exciting.
2. i just got a new cut and fabulous color!
3. i have all kinds of gorge-i-o-us scrapping papers and supplies on their way (think tinkering ink and love, elsie...ooh, ooh, i can't wait!!!)
4. monica's coming back today (with prezzies!) from spain.
5. i'm making a delicious pot of The Soup.
6. i've got yael naim's new soul playing on repeat on the iPod through the henry kloss. i will only stop once i reach 600 times!
7. the sun is shining. at least i think that's what the big bright fireball in the sky is...it has been awhile since we've seen it.
8. it's almost time to go pick up sabin from school/sfo.
